A Clinical Review of Traumatic Rupture of the Normal Spleen

Abstract
Author studied a clinical review on 23 cases of traumatic rupture of the normal spleen. The splenic ruptured patient was most commonly occurred in a man between the ages of 11 and 20 years(34.8%). He had either been involved in automobile accidentsor fall. He complained of severe abdominal pain (86.9%) and abdominal distention (47.8%), perhaps more severe in the left upper quadrant. On physical examination, he was found to have generalized abdominal tenderness (86.9%) and generalized abdominal rigidity (65.2%) and also visible evidence of trauma were presented (65.2%). Blood counts revealed anemia (78.2%) and leucocytosis (73.9%). Among the 9 abdominal paracentesis revealed 5 positive intraperitoneal blood. The mortality rate was 13.0% after splenectomy. The period from hospitalization to discharge was 3 weeks.
